Wongawilli Colonial Dance Club's final fling for the year. The night commences at 6pm for predinner drinks, nibbles and Christmas Carols. This will be followed by a roast dinner and dessert. BYO drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided.
The evening will continue with 4 hours of Australian bush dances as done in the ballrooms of the city and woolsheds of the bush.
There will be around 20 dances including many Colonial, Bush and Old-Time dances such as Quadrilles, Set Dances, Longways Set Dances and Couples Dances. A traditional Grand March will display all the patrons in their Christmas flavoured garb and lead into a quadrille.
Patrons are encouraged to dress in Christmas flavoured attire. All dances are called and walked through.
The music will be provided by the Illawarra's premiere traditional dance band, Wongawilli. The music played will feature authentic bush music from Australia's pioneer performers and ancestry.
The dance was started in 1989 and is generally held the last Saturday before Christmas. |
