The regular Wednesday night bush dance becomes an international affair with touring Scottish trio - Sandy Brechin on piano accordion, Ewan Wilkinson on guitar and Ronan Martin on fiddle. Together they will provide a cracking musical pace.
Dances will be called and walked through with a Scottish flavour with St Andrews Day around the corner.
Entry is $10 for adults, children free and includes a light supper.
Fresh from the Edinburgh Festival, Sandy, Ewan and Ronan are touring Australia in October 2005.
Sandy is a ‘demon’ accordion player and is one of Scotland’s finest. He toured Australia with Burach in 2002.
Since 2004, Sandy has teamed up with rising young star of the folk scene, Ewan Wilkinson, from The Scottish Borders, whose masterly guitar playing and evocative vocals belie his young age. They have toured all over Scotland, and recently The Middle East. Ronan Martin is known as the famous fiddler from Skye.

Sandy Brechin grew up in Kirkliston, West Lothian and has been playing the accordion for twenty years. In fact, he has been playing the same accordion (albeit with a few minor repairs) for the last twenty years! He was taught by the late Chrissie Leatham, in Edinburgh, and also by her son, Owen Murray, who is now Professor of Accordion at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has developed his own unique approach to the art of accordion playing and his innovative style is instantly recognisable. "An Accordionist with attitude as well as loads of talent. Tremendously exciting sets of tunes!" Folk Roots Magazine
Ewan Wilkinson is known as the ‘new voice of The Borders’ and is also a songwriter.
Ronan Martin is from the Isle of Skye and is much in demand as a traditional fiddle player both at home and abroad. He was steeped in traditional music from an early age and played in a duo with Anam's Brian Ó hEadhra. In recent years Ronan has performed with a variety of traditional groups including Fred Morrison's 'Ceolas', 'The Scottish Step Dance Company', and Skye-based band 'Cluanas'. He is an experienced player for Scottish step dancing and is well known as a tutor having taught at many fèisean and music courses throughout Scotland. |
